The Facebook Story

Staying in a dormitory is definitely not something good but this is where FACEBOOK had its birth. Thank Mark Zuckerburg and his fellow classmates Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin and Chris Hughes for their work at Harvard Dorm. Facebook was launched on 4th of February 2004 by Zuckerburg.

Mark dived into the world of web with his website called FASEMASH where in students of Harvard could post their dorm or party pics and others could rate it. This worked on the concept of Hot Or Not!!! Mark kept developing Facemash which finally turned into Facebook.

Facebook was initially used to help Harvard administration handle online student requests as the university had a lot of problems with the old systems. It worked wonders at Harvard and soon the Facebook team decided to spread it wild. Stanford, Dartmouth, Columbia and New York University implemented Facebook and this was when it started gaining fame. Setting up a tiny office in California, Mark announced Facebook as an open platform for people above 13. This small company has a revenue of US$800 million today with a staff of 1400 people. Facebook today has 600million users which means, one out of every twelve in this damn planet use Facebook.
